Swim Trends for Your Summer on a Budget

Is your closet stocked with 2015’s latest swim trends? The official start to summer is less than a week away and it’s time to get your closet in poolside shape!

This year’s swim trends are so fun! There’s a ton of monokinis for those of you wanting a little more coverage, lots of colorblocking for the sporty girls, scallops and crochet for the girly girls and stripes and prints for the bold girls out there. As you can tell from my top picks featured below, I am really digging monokinis and one pieces. My absolute favorites are the Pink Scalloped Swimsuit and the Striped Swimsuit, which are a bargain at only $40 each!

At the start of each swim season, I like to buy one new swimsuit and maybe a new bikini top or bottom. I love to mix and match my bikinis. By buying just one new piece, I can pair it with some of my solid, polka dot or even printed bikinis. Bikini mix and match is so popular these days that almost anything goes! The Louvre not only houses some of the world’s most famous art, but it’s a work of art itself! I remember sitting in French class in middle school dreaming about the day I would eat a macaron in front of the Eiffel Tower and peer into the glass pyramids of the Louvre. And let me tell you, the Louvre did NOT disappoint… and Mona Lisa says hi!

The weather was so unpredictable on these spring Parisian days so layers were key! Our days were long and consisted of waking up early for coffee and sights, walking around and exploring the city all day and ending the night with drinks and dinner. A coat was necessary for early mornings and night, but when the sun was out it got pretty warm!

This light sweater, coat and tight combination was perfect for Paris’s unpredictable state of mind. I got this bright cobalt blue statement coat right before my trip and I couldn’t be happier with my purchase. I don’t have a ton of need for a wool coat in San Francisco, but I definitely got my money’s worth of this one in Europe! Especially since it’s on sale for $40! Lately, my outfits have been centered around my accessories. Whether it’s a hat, a bag, shoes or jewelry, these accessories seem to be dictating the rest of my outfit and I kinda love it! It’s great when a statement piece can hold it’s own in an outfit. This weekend it’s all about my pink floppy hat!

I got this Pink Floppy Felt Hat from Nordstrom for only $28 this past week. I think it creates the perfect spring look paired with black and denim basics. It seriously saved my hair this weekend! As we were walking on the pier, the wind was blowing my hair everywhere! It was perfect to tame my mane and to hide my less than perfect hair day, but still not give me hat hair!

I chose to style this hat with my Old Navy Denim Jacket and Liquid Leggings, but I think it would look just as great with a flowy maxi or jeans and a tee. Modern Pieces to Update your Living Room

Living in San Francisco, I’ve learned to appreciate minimalism in home décor. Since apartments are so compact in the city, it’s important be selective in your furnishings. I personally love to find pieces with dual purposes. It’s great not only to get the most bang for your buck, but also to keep your apartment from getting too cluttered.

Black & White- it’s simple, chic and everywhere this season! This color combo is both classic and trendy at the same time. Wanna know the best part? I’m sure you can find this trend hiding in your closet already!

There are tons of ways to interpret this trend, colorblocking, graphic prints, solids, stripes, etc., each looking just as stylish as the last one. I think my favorite part of this trend is the individuality it offers. I know that seems counterintuitive since it follows pretty strict color code, but you can still put your own spin on it! Rompers are everywhere this season and I am loving them! There is a great mix of options out there ranging from casual to dressy at great price points. My latest romper purchase was from an unexpected source, Aerie. I usually shop Aerie for loungewear when they are having a sale.  I was browsing their sleep rompers and came across this adorable eyelet day romper.  It’s so versatile.
