Count Them! 10 Fall Must Haves | 2015

Are you ready for fall? It kind of snuck up on me! All of the sudden, I realized school is back in session and I’ve barely thought about what fall essentials I need. Boots, coats, jeans, accessories, there’s a ton of new trends out there this season and I’ve pulled together the top ten fall must haves that you’ve gotta have this season!

1- Dainty Jewelry– Pretty, dainty gold jewelry add elegance and a finishing touch to your fall wardrobe. Try this geometric pedant ($14) or this personalized initial wire bangle ($28) to add a touch of glamour.

2- Blanket Scarf– These oversized wraps are not only on trend, but completely warm and cozy! Use this soft scarf ($39) to layer during the chilled autumn days and to cover up with at night on the couch!

3- Longline Vest– Tailored long vests and blazers are in every store I walk in this month. They add sophistication and clean lines to the bulky layering we usually go to this time of year. Start out simple by trying this black fitted vest ($50) with a basic tee and heels.

4- Ankle Booties– I wear ankle booties nearly every day of Fall. Why you ask? They are warm, comfortable and uber versatile. They go with dresses, jeans, shorts, tights, etc. I have heeled ankle boots and flat ones and I spread the love evenly among them. Try out these zippered booties ($28) for a good deal!

5- Draped Coat– Fall is that awkward time between no coat and full on parka. Beat the chilling temps by trying out one of this seasons draped robe coats ($60). They have a loose closure and a barely there look that’s perfect for this transitional time.

6- Sweater Dress– Pack up the sundresses. The rest of the year is officially about sweater dresses. Choose a long silhouette, cable-knit, turtle neck or marled. It doesn’t matter because sweater dresses are in! I personally love this zippered sweater dress ($58), but I would also love to get my hands on a turtle neck sweater dress!

7- Wool Hat– Yes… I am still obsessed with beanies, but some days I just can’t have my hair sticking to my forehead. That’s where this polished wool fedora ($32) comes in. It will keep you warme while you are braving the elements without messing up your hair.

8- Turtle Neck– Thinking back to my young 90’s self, I really did not think I would squeeze my head through a turtle neck again. They always made my neck too itchy and hot! Now look at me, I want a turtle neck in every silhouette! This fall try a sleeveless turtle neck ($68) to keep you cool, save the sleeves for winter!

9- Bucket Bag– Bucket bags are here to stay this fall. I just love this fun, scrunched shape and the lightly structured silhouette makes it casual enough for everyday use. New to bucket bags? Try out this budget-friendly faux leather bucket bag ($60) first. It’s still good quality, but won’t break the bank.

10- Flare Jeans– Ohh flare jeans… how quickly you come back in style. Guess what? It’s fall and it’s time for you to get a pair of flares in your closet. I suggest some with some length so you can pair them with you favorite pumps or heeled boots. Try the trend out with these flare jeans ($30) or just dig in your closet to find a pair from your last bell-bottom phase!

Feeling Blue at the Louvre

The Louvre not only houses some of the world’s most famous art, but it’s a work of art itself! I remember sitting in French class in middle school dreaming about the day I would eat a macaron in front of the Eiffel Tower and peer into the glass pyramids of the Louvre. And let me tell you, the Louvre did NOT disappoint… and Mona Lisa says hi!

The weather was so unpredictable on these spring Parisian days so layers were key! Our days were long and consisted of waking up early for coffee and sights, walking around and exploring the city all day and ending the night with drinks and dinner. A coat was necessary for early mornings and night, but when the sun was out it got pretty warm!

This light sweater, coat and tight combination was perfect for Paris’s unpredictable state of mind. I got this bright cobalt blue statement coat right before my trip and I couldn’t be happier with my purchase. I don’t have a ton of need for a wool coat in San Francisco, but I definitely got my money’s worth of this one in Europe! Especially since it’s on sale for $40! MLK Day Sale | Up to 60% Off

I don’t know about you, but I am certainly ready for this upcoming three day weekend! MLK day means extra fun, extra sleep and great sales!

This weekend, many retailers will be focused on getting rid of their clearance so there are plenty of deals to be had! Brands like Forever 21 and Old Navy are offering an extra 30% off clearance, that’s huge! But since clearance sells out quicker than I can write about it, today I’m focusing on H&M’s amazing up to 60% off sale!

Holiday Jackets | 2014

It’s that time of year, holiday events and parties seem to be sprinkling everyone’s calendars these days. Holiday dressing can be a ton of fun, but it can also be a little tricky. So many holiday trends come in the form of tiny dresses and tank tops so it’s important to find the perfect layer to keep you warm on those wintery nights!

To help a sister out this year, I pulled together some of my favorite holiday jackets, all under $100! Some are dressy, some are comfy, but they are all adorable! Liven Up your Wardrobe with {Faux} Leather

As the days of November steadily fly by, I continue to get creative with textures. Fall is my favorite time of the year. Yes I happen to love apple cider, plaid and the cute sweater beer koozies I pull out for football games, but I also love accessorizing with layers!

Since the weather in San Francisco is pretty mild, it’s necessary to occasionally take a step back from the typical textures of chunky sweaters and fur, and focus on the lighter layers. One of my go-to textures that adds glamour and the feel of fall is leather. It’s great for when the weather is too warm to bundle up, but you’re craving texture.

Falling for Fringe

I used to associate fringe with summer, but those days are over. I no longer reserve fringe for coachella and days at the beach. Fringe is now for all seasons and all occasions, I even dress it up for special occasions!

My favorite take on the trend for fall is leather fringe. I am obsessed with the Forever 21 jacket and the Nikki Rich Fringe Top below. The leather adds a dressy, warm, fall element to the trend. And how fun is that pop of yellow fringed clutch? It’s definitely a statement piece and is the perfect accessory for that little black dress hanging in your closet.

Fashion is evolving and so are consumer expectations. We are no longer impressed with a showing of the latest trends and average price points, we want much more! In addition to meeting our already high standards, we’ve thrown some more demands into the mix. We also want to know that our clothes are sustainable and eco-friendly, something we can feel good about wearing around town. And brands are starting to notice the shift in our priorities and are making it easier and easier for us to be a responsible shopper.

H&M’s newest sustainable collection, the Conscious Denim Collection, is a great example. They are combining sustainable materials with sustainable production and making high fashion denim pieces. The collection not only includes every denim fit you will be wearing this fall, but it also has a few great jackets, skirts and accessories. There’s something for everyone, literally! Not only is there an amazing collection for women, but they’ve included men and kids in on the fun too! These items are not only cool, but this is a cause I would be proud to represent.

Fun in Fur

Nothing is more fabulous than fur… faux fur that is! And it’s finally getting cool enough to bring my fur pieces out from hibernation! There are tons of ways to wear fur this fall and my personal favorite is the simple fur vest (check out the H&M style below for under $30!)

If you’re feeling a little shy, try starting with fur accessories. I picked a few below that are easy to add to any outfit. Feeling wild?!? Great!
