Liven Up your Wardrobe with {Faux} Leather

As the days of November steadily fly by, I continue to get creative with textures. Fall is my favorite time of the year. Yes I happen to love apple cider, plaid and the cute sweater beer koozies I pull out for football games, but I also love accessorizing with layers!

Since the weather in San Francisco is pretty mild, it’s necessary to occasionally take a step back from the typical textures of chunky sweaters and fur, and focus on the lighter layers. One of my go-to textures that adds glamour and the feel of fall is leather. It’s great for when the weather is too warm to bundle up, but you’re craving texture.

I love dressing my leather pieces down by pairing them with plaid or plain v-necks. Check out the fun leather products I pulled together below. These are great pieces to pull out for the holidays or even just a night out. Share your favorite in the comments below and click to shop!

Nothing beats getting dressed in my coziest layers and enjoying some warm hot cocoa by the fire. To help everyone get as excited as I am about the holidays I pulled together some must haves for the upcoming holiday season. Nothing screams holiday like faux fur, fair isle, plaid and reindeer prints- Enjoy!!

Cool & Cozy

Fall in San Francisco is all about slowly transitioning yourself from summer into fall. Although September and October are technically fall months, we’ve had some of our warmest days of the year in these months! It doesn’t seem like Mother Nature is quite ready to embrace fall, but that doesn’t mean I’m not ready!

Cool and Cozy 1

In this type of weather, I’ve learned the best way to embrace fall without breaking a sweat is to mix your fall wardrobe with summer pieces. That way I can wear my new sweater and booties from Old Navy that I’ve been dying to wear and not have a heat stroke! I chose to pair these with my go-to chiffon skirt I got this summer, but a pencil skirt, a midi skirt or even cut-offs would work too!

Halloween Must Haves

I can hardly believe it, but Halloween is right around the corner! As you start to decorate for this spooooky holiday please remember, halloween decor doesn’t need to be pricey OR tacky!

I love getting some glam pieces, like the gold foil pumpkins, and mixing them with some fun and unexpected things, like the AMAZING skeleton yard flamingo and skeleton hand servers. Don’t take it too seriously, if it makes you smile or chuckle then it’s a great choice!

I pulled together some great decorating options for whatever is on your Halloween agenda. Throwing a dinner party? Check out the dare to dine section! Celebrating day of the dead? Skip to the skeletons! Just keeping it real this Halloween? Go for the modern take on classic pumpkin decor! Whichever you choose, have fun with it and make sure to have a party to show off all your hard work! 🙂

Carry the Cropped Trend into Fall with Cropped Sweaters

Have you been sporting the crop tee trend all summer long? Well you’re in luck! It looks like you will be able to wear this belly-baring trend all the way through fall! The cropped sweater trend is fun, easy and casual. You can pair the cropped trend with textured knits and a slouchy fit and it becomes much more conservative than the cropped tee look. I’m not saying you will be wearing this look to church on Sunday, but it’s a great way to embrace the cropped trend without exposing too much skin. I pulled together some great deals below making it easy to sport the trend this fall without breaking the bank!

TOMS for Target

Happy Monday everyone! This morning, I am bringing good news to all of you do-gooders on a budget. Two awesome companies are teaming up to release a collection that partners each of their specialties- giving back and budget friendly prices. That’s right! I’m talking about TOMS and Target

Target has had more collaborations than I can keep up with, but who am I to complain? Each collection has me on the edge of my seat counting down the days until the launch and I have a feeling this collaboration with TOMS won’t be any different

Last week, Target announced this limited edition holiday collection with TOMS. When I first heard about it I assumed the collection would consist of their signature slip-ons and maybe some specialty shoes for top dollar, but that is not the case at all! The collection does include the canvas slip-ons, but it also features home goods, apparel and accessories for women, men and kids. And the giving back has gotten a little more creative too! For each pair of shoes sold, a pair will still go to a child in need, but all other purchases result in the donation of a blanket or one week of meals to those in need. And the good news doesn’t stop there. I could hardly believe it, but each item in the collection retails under $50.

I love all the items in the collection, but I picked a few of my favorite looks to feature below (how cozy does that beanie and scarf look?).

Check out the full collection of apparel, accessories and home goods on Target’s site. And make sure to pick your favorites now! The collection will be available November 16th, just in time for gift giving!

Altuzarra for Target

Target has announced their upcoming collaboration with Altuzarra, launching September 14th! Since the brand’s start in 2008, Joseph Altuzarra has has become a world famous designer and has received various awards. Most recently, Altuzarra won the 2014 CFDA Womenswear Designer of the Year Award and now he gets to add his name to the list of esteemed designers that have released collaborations with Target.

This collaboration is anything but boring! The looks are feminine, tailored and sultry and certainly appeal to the corporate woman. The line offers a mix of items, including pencil skirts, dresses and even outerwear, all retailing under $100! If the price point isn’t enough to convince you, maybe the textures and prints are! The line features animal print, faux fur, jacquard and velvet. This line is a great way to welcome fall and can be found at Target, Target.com and NET-A-PORTER starting September 14th.

Check out the lookbook below, some of my favorites are the Ruby Red Velvet Blazer ($59.99), the Black Faux Fur Crop Jacket ($69.99) and the Structured Dress with Crane Embroidery ($49.99). Share your favorites in the comments below!

Mad for Plaid

As fall rolls in, leaves start turning color and plaid starts to dot the shelves of retailers. When I think of plaid, I usually think of a plain flannel button down, but plaid isn’t just for lumberjacks anymore. There are tons of edgy and feminine ways to wear plaid this fall. I pulled together some of my favorites, including the coat wrap, check scarf and the sheer plaid top! Check them out and share your favorite ways to wear plaid in the comments below.

Chevron Chic

Most of you know Chicago as the Windy City, and so did I… until I moved to the top of a hill in San Francisco. This city by the bay is windy, especially as you climb further up the hills. And as much as I try to get my hair to cooperate, sometimes you’ve just got to surrender to the wind and throw it on a bun!

This chevron baseball jacket was one of my many scores from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. It’s a pretty busy print, so I chose to keep it the rest of my outfit simple with a black top and maxi, finishing it off with gold accessories. I love to take everyday basics and pair them back to one pop item or statement piece. This jacket gives the look personality and a fun seventies vibe!

Notice that pop of pink on my wrist? That’s my new fitbit! The jury is still out on it, but so far I’m really liking it and learning a lot about my body. Do any of you have a fitness tracker? If so what are your thoughts on them?

Black & White- the perfect pair

Black & White- it’s simple, chic and everywhere this season! This color combo is both classic and trendy at the same time. Wanna know the best part? I’m sure you can find this trend hiding in your closet already!

There are tons of ways to interpret this trend, colorblocking, graphic prints, solids, stripes, etc., each looking just as stylish as the last one. I think my favorite part of this trend is the individuality it offers. I know that seems counterintuitive since it follows pretty strict color code, but you can still put your own spin on it! It’s easy to infuse it into your office wear, lounge gear or date night outfits. Dress it up or down. Wear prints or solids. Whatever you do, have fun with it!
