Casual Monday

glamourita- casual monday

Today I’m keeping it casual. Layers, sneakers and bold jewelry are usual suspects in my weekend wardrobe. In San Francisco, I always make sure to dress in layers. You never know where the day will take you and the weather changes drastically from one neighborhood to the next.

Also, sneakers are a must when climbing the hills of San Francisco. I’ve expressed my love for these particular slip-ons in the posts Pop of Mint and Studs & Crochet. They are a great go-to shoe to have in your closet and they go with everything!

When running errands, basics are a must. I love starting with this easy knit tee/skirt combo, throwing on a chambray top and mixing it up with my favorite accessories of the moment. Whether it’s my shoes, purse or jewelry, I always choose one to brighten up the outfit. What’s your go-to accessory to add personality to your basic outfits?

Wearable Technology- Ringly

What do you think of when you hear the term wearable technology? Maybe Jawbone wristbands? Fitbit? Even Google Glass?

Although these are all “wearable” and are becoming more fashionable with color extensions and designer collaborations, they are technology first and fashion second. But, wearable technology is about to have a new standard to live up to this Fall with the launch of Ringly!

Ringly is one of the hottest, upcoming wearable technologies right now. A big reason for the buzz around this smart accessory is it’s actual fashion appeal. What sets this ring apart most from other wearable technologies is the idea of it being subtle. You can usually spot someone wearing a fitness tracker from across the room and Ringly is meant to blend in with with the rest of your outfit and discreetly help you manage what’s most important on your phone.

Ringly has the option to set who and what you want to be notified of. If you are waiting for a text from the guy your crushing on, don’t want to miss your next meeting or even just waiting for an Uber, Ringly is here to help! You decide who and what comes through and can customize notifications with 4 different vibration patterns.

Now for the details. I think the idea AND look of Ringly is awesome. The Ringly app is compatible with both IOS and Android devices, has a 3 day battery life and comes in the 4 color options in 18K matte gold shown above (the Emerald color is already sold out for pre-sale!) In Fall these will be retailing at $195-$260, but for early supporters they are offering 25% off, bringing the price down to $145-$180.

Is Ringly the smart accessory you have been waiting for? I’m contemplating taking advantage of this 25% off pre-sale, what color do you think I should get?

The Perfect Picnic

There’s nothing better than spending the day lounging in the sunshine. Our apartment is blocks from a few different parks and not too far from the beach either. We try to take advantage of the awesome year round weather and views as much as possible! And what better way than a picnic?

glamourita picnic must haves

BBB Picnic BasketWhen registering for our wedding, I found this amazing picnic basket at Bed, Bath and Beyond for only $39.99! This basket has come in handy over the past few months. It is well made, versatile and a steal at $40 (only $32 if you have a 20% off coupon!). The bottom half doubles as a zip-insulated cooler, perfect for drinks, cheese, fruit, etc. And it comes with 4 plastic place settings strapped in, including plates, mugs, forks, spoons and knives. All you have to do is add the food, drinks and blanket and you have a picnic!

When I ordered this basket online I expected it to be small, but the size surprised me! The zippered cooler section is big enough to hold wine bottles plus food and ice! It’s the perfect way to make packing for picnics a cinch. Still need help deciding what to pack into it? See my picnic must haves below!

All American Twirl

Hi all! I hope you had an amazing holiday weekend! Fourth of July is for spending time with family, enjoying the outdoors, eating great food and watching fireworks, of course! My wonderful weekend included all of these All American things.

While roaming the streets this weekend I saw so many patriotic outfits. Independence Day is a great excuse to show off your favorite red, white and blue outfits. I love all the stars, stripes and flag pieces, but for a dressier look I opted for this simple white organza skirt and paired it back to an American classic, a Levi’s denim vest! Also, I’ve been looking for an excuse to wear these amazing blue printed wedges I scored from Hautelook! What better excuse than this festive holiday?

Happy Fourth of July everyone…almost! I hope you are lucky like me and able to take off early for the holiday weekend. Today I’m giving you a sneak peek of how I will be showing off my patriotism tomorrow!

I bought these flag shorts from Target last year, but I am seeing this idea at more and more retailers this year (including the Forever 21 shorts posted below!). Since I thought these shorts would be a disposable purchase, I shopped around to make sure I got a good deal. But, I have been pleasantly surprised with how much use I’ve gotten out of them! Between the Fourth of July, the World Cup and the Indy 500 (yes I’m from Indianapolis!), they’ve done their fair share of celebrating!

Not Your Average TOMS

TOMS have been my go to comfort shoe since college. Back in the day when TOMS had a selection of just canvas slip-ons, they were perfect for running quick errands and even walking around campus all day. Their One for One campaign has always been compelling, but what keeps me coming back every season is the expanding selection. I’ve migrated from solid slip-ons to wedge booties and sandals! I even wore the light pink wedges as my wedding reception shoes! (featured here in my Farmer’s Market post) My collection of TOMS has become pretty vast over the years and they are ALL super comfortable. Awesome cause and cute shoes? Sign me up!

One of the more recent collaborations I have been lusting over is TOMS & Jonathan Adler, a few of my favorite pieces are featured below!

Overall TOMS are pretty affordable and I ALWAYS get my moneys worth! But, lately I’ve been wanting to upgrade to the TOMS+ collection. If you aren’t familiar with the TOMS+ line, it is a higher-end, luxury line TOMS offers and they have some really cute stuff! I love the cobalt woven classics, the stripes/floral mixing and the tropical wedges! All the prints are vibrant, fun and perfect for summer!

Lastly, I couldn’t leave out the awesome Men’s selection. My husband is a huge fan of TOMS. He has a few lace-up pairs in chambray and burlap. They are so versatile and great for his city commute! Below I added in some of my favorite men’s styles, what do you think of them? Would you by any of these TOMS? Share with me in the comments below!

City by the Bay

glamourita city by the bay

I have to admit, I’m not normally a huge fan of graffiti, but I love this City by the Bay wall near our apartment. It’s lively, colorful and encompasses all the joy San Francisco has to offer! After passing this wall every week, I finally felt compelled to feature it on my blog. And what better way to show off this vivid work of art than the white-hot trend that’s everywhere this season?

Head-to-toe white is a great look this summer! It’s such an easy outfit to pull together and looks effortlessly polished. I especially love my new laser cut flats from Target, they were a steal at only $17.48! What are your thoughts on the white-hot trend? Share your favorite pieces in the comments below!

June Birchbox | 2014

Happy Monday! Since June is officially coming to an end, it’s time for me review this month’s Birchbox products. If you aren’t familiar with Birchbox, it’s a company offering a subscription to receive monthly samples of beauty products (They offer both men’s and women’s boxes!). I love it because it’s a mini treat to myself once a month and it’s a great, inexpensive way to get introduced to new brands and products. Below is what I found when I opened my June Birchbox.

June Birchbox

What are all those tiny samples? Well this month’s box included all of the following:

Number 4™ Super Comb Prep & Protect

Folle de Joie eau de parfum

Jasmine Seven™ Wipes

Supergoop!® Everyday SPF 30 with Cellular Response Technology

Coastal Scents® Revealed 2 Palette Set

I’ll start with Number 4™ Super Comb Prep & Protect. Since growing out my hair, I have started using a leave-in conditioner. I especially need it for the detangling aspect when getting out of the shower and this product got the job done. I could definitely tell the difference it made on my hair after a few days. It feels soft, smooth and healthy. The only downside is the smell. The smell is light and it isn’t bad, but it’s not what I’m used to in a hair product. It smells a little too chemically for my personal taste (almost like a perm, which just brings back terrible hair memories!). To be fair, I currently have a leave in conditioner I am in love with, both smell and results, so this one had high expectations to live up to.

Next I tried the Folle de Joie eau de parfum. This perfume is amazing! It’s a little different than the scents I normally gravitate toward, but I ended up loving it. It’s light and fresh, but has staying power to last a full day’s work. At $98 for 3.4 fl oz., the price is pretty steep compared to what I usually spend on perfume. But, if I’m going to drop $100 on perfume, this one would a top candidate!

Now onto a product I’ve never heard of, Jasmine Seven™ Fresh Feet Wipes. These are such a great idea! I thought these wipes were a weird thing to get in my Birchbox, but they ended up coming in handy! I live in the city and walk to work everyday and sometimes (especially when wearing sandals or flats) my feet get so dirty! This is a great way to freshen them up before a dinner or happy hour.

I hate putting on sunscreen, but it’s a necessary evil this time of year. Applying it is annoying and tedious and if you are at a more formal outside event, the last thing you want to do is smell like sunscreen! This is where Supergoop!® Everyday Sunscreen comes in. Contrary to the name, this sunscreen goes on so light! It’s super easy to rub in and isn’t greasy at all. Also, the smell is so fresh and light that you would never know that it’s sunscreen! This is my new go-to sunscreen. It can’t be beat!

Lastly, Coastal Scents® Revealed 2 Palette Eyeshadow Set. I love this mini palette! I am a definite fan of bronze shimmer shadow and that’s just what they gave me. The colors are great neutrals for any complexion and very versatile. The texture of the shadow is great, easy to blend and long lasting. I have a hard time picking out just one or two eye shadows, so I prefer splurging on a palette like this. This palette looks like it has a great range of color offerings and for just $34, it is certainly a contender for my next round of Birchbox points I earn!

That wraps it up for this month’s Birchbox products. Wanting more? Check out last month’s post, May’s Birchbox Finds. Have you tried any of these brands or products before? Let me know your thoughts of them in the comments below!

Party in the USA

Can you believe the Fourth of July is just one week away? Independence Day is one of my favorite holidays! This is partly because I love barbecues, s’mores and fireworks and partly because it’s usually coupled with my birthday celebration. This year I am especially excited for the long weekend because my parents will be visiting me all the way from Indiana! I have been busy filling their itinerary with all the “can’t miss” tourist activities in San Francisco and couldn’t help planning my outfits for the holiday weekend as well! I put together some of my favorite pieces inspired by the land of the free! Will you be sporting the more literal prints like the flag shorts and TOMS below? Or will you go for the subtler look like the white dress paired with Red Essie Nail Polish? Share with me in the comments below!
