Swim Trends for Your Summer on a Budget

Is your closet stocked with 2015’s latest swim trends? The official start to summer is less than a week away and it’s time to get your closet in poolside shape!

This year’s swim trends are so fun! There’s a ton of monokinis for those of you wanting a little more coverage, lots of colorblocking for the sporty girls, scallops and crochet for the girly girls and stripes and prints for the bold girls out there. As you can tell from my top picks featured below, I am really digging monokinis and one pieces. My absolute favorites are the Pink Scalloped Swimsuit and the Striped Swimsuit, which are a bargain at only $40 each!

At the start of each swim season, I like to buy one new swimsuit and maybe a new bikini top or bottom. I love to mix and match my bikinis. By buying just one new piece, I can pair it with some of my solid, polka dot or even printed bikinis. Bikini mix and match is so popular these days that almost anything goes! And it’s the best way to get the most for your money this swim season. Just don’t forget, versatility is key! Enjoy my top swim picks below and share your favorites of the season in the comments!

Glam Up for Under $50

One of the best ways to showcase your personality is how you style your home. Making a house feel like a home can be time consuming and costly, but I’m here to help! I’ve moved several times in the past few years and have learned quite a few budget saving decorating tricks. The most important one of all is to keep the big purchases, like furniture, classic and neutral and to use accent pieces to bring in color and trends.

As much as I love bright printed couches and white dining room tables, I know these are trendy pieces and aren’t worth the investment. Instead, I would spend my money on a nice neutral couch and a natural wood dining room table. Now you can dress it up with throw pillows, centerpieces, or anything you can get your hands on. As a bonus, it’s easy to find decorating accents to fit any budget- they are easy to replace when you get sick of the trend or want to try something new.

Below I gathered 10 of my favorite gold pieces to glam up your home. All are fabulous, fun and under $50!

Summer Must Haves

Hi all! Since the official start of summer is this Saturday, I am rounding up my favorite must haves for the season! If you are anything like us, you already have a TON planned for this summer. When summer finally comes around, it seems the calendar is immediately packed with barbecues, beach days and much more! I have put together some of my favorite summer themed items to help navigate you through your jam-packed summer.

Throwing a backyard barbecue? Hosting a party can be a little stressful, so I love to keep it casual and fun! The items below are my favorites for hosting a party. From colorful bar tools to pineapple ice trays and squeeze pop molds, you are bound to have a great party!

Anthropologie Color Reel bar tools ($10-$24) / Anthropologie Fruit Wedge Tumbler ($10) / Target Tinted Mason Jar ($9.99) / Target Sangria Pitcher ($7.99) / UO Burger Spatula ($20) / Anthropologie Pineapple Ice Trays ($14) / Anthropologie Squeeze Pop Molds ($16)

Or is the beach calling your name? The first chance we get, my husband and I will be cruising up Highway 1 to Stinson Beach. It’s an incredible beach town where we escape the city to relax and catch some rays. Compiled below are some finds I’ve been lusting over for this year’s inevitable beach trips. I love the ease of this crepe mint cover-up, the bright high-waisted floral bikini and even the fun ice cream beach towel! Tired of flip-flops? Try giving your feet a break by ditching those flip-flops for these tropical printed slip-ons. (I’m kinda obsessed and have featured 2 different pairs I have in Studs & Crochet and Pop of Mint). These are much more comfortable than flip-flops and still give you the beach side look!

ASOS Floral Bikini (Top- $34.30 and Bottoms- $30.49) / Rip Curl Straw Beach Tote ($49.50) / Forever 21 Beaded Necklace ($6.80) / Forever 21 Ice Cream Beach Towel ($10.80) / ASOS Mint Tunic ($41.92) / Forever 21 Geo Round Sunglasses ($5.80) / David & Young Floppy Hat ($20) / Topshop Tika Floral Slip-Ons ($25) / Target Tribal Bucket Bag ($17.49) / ASOS Trapeze Maxi ($49.54) / ASOS Embellished Shorts ($66.69)

Totally Tropical

Totally Tropical

NastyGal Watermelon Skirt / Forever21 Island Backpack / ASOS Tutti Frutty Cap / Aerie Pineapple Shorts / Aerie Floral Swimsuit / Forever 21 Bicycle Sandals / ASOS Fruit Printed Watch / ASOS Pineapple Crossbody / Kate Spade Watermelon Flats / Forever 21 Cherry Tote / Aerie Flamingo Swimsuit / ASOS Floral Slip-Ons

It’s finally starting to feel like spring is here and the tropical trend is in full swing! Everywhere I look there are quirky conversational prints and fun florals tempting me.  As you can see, I am particularly drawn to the fruit inspired pieces! The items above are great for a beach day or a backyard barbeque. I think personal style is a great outlet to express your personality, so why not have fun with it? I love to add elements with a sense of humor into my wardrobe and decorations around the apartment.  It’s easiest to start with accessories and prints (like the tropical backpack, printed hat and the fruit watch) and work your way into the bolder items (like the pineapple crossbody and the watermelon flats). Lastly, make sure to pair this tropical trend back to simple pieces, you don’t want your outfit to become a costume! Will you be sporting this trend this season? How will you put your personal spin on it?
